Topic: America vs South Korea/Speaking and Listening
Feedback: Some minor correction was needed. Soyoung asks for help if a word does not seem familiar or if she is unsure about word usage.
Today's topic was kind of all over the place. We really were interested in the differences between family, shopping, music, and driving in America and South Korea. Our music tastes overlapped because American music such as Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran is popular over in South Korea. Even shopping was the same--except American marking seems to have K-Beauty a little wrong. Soyoung laughed when I rambled off all the steps of skin care that Americans seem to think everyone does in South Korea.
Driving seemed to be our greatest difference. In America, it is almost expected for high schoolers to drive but in South Korea it is all about public transportation. Soyoung mentioned that 18 is the legal driving age in South Korea and so I showed her some boring scenery from driving in Florida. We did have a brief moment of confusion with word choice when talking about traffic jams but it was easily cleared up.
Overall, it was just a really fun discussion about the different cultures.
