Topic/Skill: Articles & Speaking
Feedback Provided to Tutee: In our previous tutoring session, she expressed to me that Articles were a little confusing to her. I prepared a review of Articles as well as a couple activities for her to practice. There was a fill-in-the-blank section that she did really well in. I also gave her two short paragraphs in which she had to identify and correct the errors. I think this exercise was good for her because she can use it when editing her own writing. I am going to continue giving her exercises like these, especially because she is an English Literature Major. I also wanted to practice speaking with her, so together we chose a topic and discussed it for the remainder of the session.
Lesson(s) about Tutoring and/or the Tutee You Learned: I observed that Seongeun has really great writing skills, but her speaking skills don't seem as fluent. When speaking, her response time is a little slow, but her grammatical accuracy is high. I believe she wants to be as accurate as possible, so she takes more time when she is speaking. I hope, that as we continue to meet, she will become more comfortable speaking in English.
