Topic/Skill: Reading and Comprehension
Today Abdulrahman and I worked on reading using The Alchemist. Based on our last meeting I wanted to provide short readings for summarizing and vocabulary. Abdulrahman read the passages aloud and we worked through the sentences. Some of the words we discussed that he was not familiar with were: suddenly, appeared, and abandoned. We touched on a few phrasal verbs (thought back, living out). I also need to look up the reason for "had had" in sentences to explain more thoroughly for our next meeting. He did a very good job and I made sure to reaffirm his practice. In our next session I will find some readings that are lower level probably. He indicated the one I selected was too difficult, although I do not think I would agree with this fully.

He said he has some specific readings he would like to work on at our next session. I encouraged him to bring them for us.
