Topics: Active/Passive voice, Antonyms and Synonyms, error correction
We started out today with some worksheets that I had found online to correct errors in sentences. It was an advanced level and Abdulrhman did very well! Then we did another worksheet with antonyms and synonyms, and he did well even though there were a few hard words. We had to look up a few words, but after I used them in sentences he could find the answers. Next, I explained the active and passive voices, when to use them, and the differences between them. To practice, I would write a sentence in the active voice and than ask him to write sentences in passive voice, and vice versa. After about 3 examples he understood well and said it was easy. At the end, we had a few extra minutes so he explained Ramadan further to me, and some of the cultural differences between here, Dubai, and the rest of his country. Apparently Dubai is very different from the rest of the Middle East!
