Christiana TS #2

Date/Time: May 23, 2017; 6:45-7:45 P.M.
Location: Osceola Study rooms
Topic: Diagnostic/ Goal assesment
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: Focused on learning my new tutee's strengths and weaknesses and figuring out what she wants to/needs to work on.

Today I met with my second adult tutee, Jiwon, for the first time at the Osceola apartments study center and it went really well! We spent the hour getting to know each other and talking about her likes and dislikes, as well as her strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning english, which is actually her third language. Jiwon is from Seoul, South Korea but her first language is actually Japanese since her family lived there when she was born. She came to Tallahassee one month ago, and is in group three at CIES and she speaks english quite well already! We had nice conversation getting to know more about each other and our interests and then got down to what we will be working on in our upcoming tutoring sessions. She wants to work on her pronunciation and accent when speaking, grammar in use in writing, and reading comprehension when it comes to reading. Our next meeting will be next Wednesday, so I am going to start planning a reading activity and questions for us to go over together and I'm excited to see how it goes!
