Today was our first time meeting with the child tutees, and it went very well! We met with Alex, Daniel, and Francis, but there were some younger children and their cousin there also. The mother did not speak English, but the father was there and spoke pretty good English. We went over the ABC's, colors, numbers, animals, and started to read a book. All of the children are at around the same level even though they are all different ages. For writing, it worked well to write down a few easy sentences and then have them copy them, and then explain what it meant. We are meeting with them again on Wednesday and we are going to bring some more level appropriate books and worksheets.
