Date/Time: May 21, 6:15-8:15pm
Location: Mayuri Indian Restaurant
Topics: Politics, future plans, Culture
I picked up Abdulrahman and we went to Mayuri for dinner. We both enjoy Indian food and he hadn't eaten it for a long time so I thought it would be a fun place to spend our time. The food was amazing. We talked about his grammar homework and last week's presentation. I've been helping via text to understand phrasal verbs and to find ESL/EFL reading materials online for him to practice with. We talked about the new phrasal verbs that he's learned and started to use. We got into politics a little bit with the President's visit to Saudi Arabia. It seems to be all anyone can talk about right now. We discussed hopes for the future, mine being to figure out what I want to do and his to develop proficiency in English so that he can get his Master's and find a good job. We briefly discussed tattoos as well and cultural differences with regard to them. It was really great. His English is improving and he's been working really hard.
