Alexa CP #3

Date/Time: May 20, 12:00-1:00
Location: Hobbit American Grill
Topic discussed: Differences between Japan and America, things to do in Tallahassee,  food
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: America vs. Japan, her struggle with reading English

I met with Nanami for the third time today. I actually had the opportunity to take her to an American restaurant which is something she was wanting to do. When it came to the restaurant, the one thing that was difficult for her was reading the menu. It was a good opportunity for me because I was able to help her. It was also difficult for her when the waiter came up and started to ask us what we wanted. He asked us a lot of different questions like "Would you like your burger medium? Medium well?" and "Do you want lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles on that?" After breaking the questions down for her by talking a little slower and asking them in a simpler way, she was able to understand and answer the questions. She absolutely loved the food! She expressed a desire to go to an oriental market because in America it is hard to find ingredients to cook Japanese meals. I told her that I knew a couple different markets and could take her there for our next meet up.
