Date/Time: May17, 7-8pm
Place:Strozier Library
Topics discussed: We began by going over some worksheets of things that Abdulahman said he wanted to discuss last time, such as reading. The first was reading a paragraph and then putting the things that happened in order. Next, he did a fill in the blank worksheet using 'work', 'working', and 'to work'. I explained when to use each version of the word and the difference between gerund and infinitive. The last worksheet was a MadLibs about camping. He has never been camping so we talked about camping, what you do, and the places you could go. Abdula also told me that he wanted to go to law school at FSU, so we went over 5 basic law terms, their definitions, and talked about how to use them in real life. I liked doing this vocab practice the best because it made him happy to talk about things that he liked and he was eager to learn and understand them. I asked him several times to write the definitions, but he never wanted to and said that he would remember them all and tell me the definitions next time that we met - I'm excited to see if he remembers them all!
