Elaina TS#4

Date/time: May18, 7-8pm
Location: Starbucks
Topics: When I met with Turki today he said that he wanted some help studying for his reading and grammar quizzes tomorrow. I quizzed him on the topics that his reading test would be on such as the topic sentence, supporting details, theme, and main point. I asked him what they meant, when they would be used, and to give me an example. He did very well! Next, we moved on to grammar. The quiz was on past continuous and using a list of irregular verbs in the past tense. I asked him to use each of the verbs from the list in a sentence in the past tense, and if he made an error I would stop him and see if he knew what it was and how to correct it. After, we did a worksheet that I brought about past continuous and talked about when to use that tense. When we were done we still had a few minutes left in the hour, so we began walking towards campus and we talked about some things that he has learned in America, what is different here than in his country, and his family back home. I think he is going to do well on his test, it seems like what he needs to work on the most is speaking and writing.
