On Wednesday,
May 10, 2017, from 2:55pm to 3:55pm, I met with my conversation partner
Gabriela for the first time at the CIES.
We spent our time introducing ourselves and getting to know each other. We also ate some cake that the other
international students gave us.
Gabriela
arrived in the United States from Brazil only three weeks ago. She is a swimmer and has a Brazilian friend
who swims on FSU’s team. She is studying
English in the hopes of coming back to FSU to study biomedical
engineering. We spent some time looking
up FSU’s scholarships and admissions information for international
students. I gave her the addresses of
the Globe and the Financial Aid Office. Gabriela
is eighteen years old, and she has one younger brother. She enjoys watching sports, so we talked
about baseball, soccer, and American football.
She thinks Tallahassee is a great city and is excited to see more of
it. We talked about future activities we
could do together like going to a farmer’s market, visiting some parks, and
trying out new restaurants. Overall, we
were able to communicate easily, and I am looking forward to introducing
Gabriela to Tallahassee.
