Valerie TS #5

PJ and I began reading Holes together during this session. He was already about 9 or 10 chapters in, so we picked up where he'd left off. I personally love this book, having read it when I was PJ's age as well. Before we began reading, I asked him to give me a summary of what happened so far. He thought that was funny since I'd already read the book, but I told him it'd been so long that I needed a little refresher.

After the summary, we got started. Holes is a slightly more difficult book than the last one we read together, Frindle, yet PJ read along just fine. Since I have a good idea of what happens in the book, I went over a few foreshadowing things, helping him to understand a new reading/writing concept. We got through about three chapters, stopping along the way to compare this type of camp to the Boy Scout camping trip he had just went on.
