So as usual we met at Starbucks. This time Sheila mostly wanted to practice speaking. So we talked about her life in Mexico, and what her goals are in the US. She explained to me in some difficulty she got a nursing degree in Mexico but wanted to continue her education her so she could get a job here as a nurse. She mentioned possibly going to FSU or TCC for their nursing programs. Sheila also happens to work at my favorite Mexican restaurant so we talked about that. She asked me how to politely ask things like "would you like anything else?" or "what would you like." We went over some of the different ways to say things like that with the same meanings. We practiced this because she has some trouble pronouncing words correctly and has difficulty hearing English when it is spoken quickly. So I used the opportunity to do some role playing to help her.
