Saad and I did some more studying for the IELTS with his study guide that I still need to find a replacement for. Most of the problems that we ran into today seemed to revolve around vocabulary in the passages we were reading. The academic vocabulary was something he seemed a little unfamiliar with, so we spent most of our time learning the vocabulary (for example: inheritance). We then used the context clues of the passages to fit it in the blanks of a prewritten summary. There were also a good number of comprehension questions to do. I recommended that he start making a list of the words he didn't know in the book and studying them before attempting to do the activity so he can build a larger academic vocabulary. Near the end of the session, we really just started talking and agreed we would continue to meet over the summer as needed. It was nice to have made a friend and will be good to keep up my tutoring skills.
