I met with Soumaya again, as her usual tutor left Tallahassee for the summer. After catching up for a few minutes, I asked her what she wanted to work on today and she said American music. She showed me some of the songs she likes from both Burkina Faso and America, so I was able to see what type of music she was into.
I introduced her to different genres such as Rap and Reggae (one of my personal favorites). We talked about different artists, especially the extremely famous ones like Justin Bieber and Beyonce. I told her about award shows like the Grammy's, and she said Burkina Faso has similar celebrations.
