Date/Time:  Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 at 6:00PM

Location: Starbucks

Topic/Skill: IELTS Practice

Since it was in between sessions for him, Saad wanted to work on studying for the IELTS with his practice book. He had read over most of the material, but wanted me to run through it with him to clarify what the author was saying. We focused on the reading comprehension/context clues session. I'm not sure what practice book he had, but I found the questions to be ambiguous, even to me. I had to look at the answers to figure out what it was asking me to do. We worked through it as best we could, but some of the strategies it was presenting were unrealistic at best, and harmful at worst. One shouldn't always assume that the thesis statement will be placed in a specific place.

Lesson(s) about Tutoring and/or the Tutee You Learned:
Not all study books were created equal. I'll need to take the IELTS myself to figure out a better way to study for them because that book was garbage.
