Topic/Skill: Speech correction
Once again, as requested, we mainly focused on speech correction today. Saeed asked if we could just talk like we do for conversation partners, but I correct all his speech errors as we do. I did as he asked, but it did make it hard to carry on a continuous conversation when I had to stop him every few seconds. It did, however, seem to make him aware of errors he didn't know that he was making. He seemed to become more careful in his speech. I had to help him with pronunciation errors, but by describing the tongue motions you need to make when say the words, he got it. He was struggling in particular with the word tourist this session, something that came up with Saad as well. This combination of sounds seems to be hard for Arabic speakers.
