Topic/Skill: Speaking and Minimal Pairs
Feedback Provided to Tutee: I thought it would be fun to use some videos to help Seongeun practice listening to and saying minimal pairs. I used videos of Dave, a youtube vlogger, who speaks Korean to help Seongeun. I wanted to show her these videos as a good resource she can use on her own while practicing pronunciation. I also showed her a couple other fun videos of Dave's that addressed slang terms and idioms commonly heard in America (e.g Couch Potato).
Lesson(s) about Tutoring and/or the Tutee You Learned: I learned that Seongeun is very self-motivated. Along with her classes at CIES, Seongeun uses an English textbook to practice and learn on her own. She showed me some of the material she was working on and we decided to go over her mistakes in our next tutoring session.
