Date/Time: June 5, 2017; 6:00pm-7:00pm
Location: Campus Circle Study Rooms
Topic: Speaking Presentation
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: Worked on a speaking presentation that he has to present on Thursday.
For today's meeting Saeed and I once again met at the Campus Circle Study Center. He informed me that he needed help with a speaking presentation that he had on Thursday so we got started working on that right away. The presentation is supposed to be five minutes long on the topic of world hunger. Saeed is using the World Hunger Programme's website as his source of information and after reading through the general information page we decided what information would be pertinent to cover and what we could skip. For the next 45 minutes we worked on putting five slides together and discussing his potential script for Thursday. Working on his computer was slightly difficult since his powerpoint is all in arabic but I would look at mine and just give him instructions based on the corresponding buttons and tool bars on my computer. I'd never seen powerpoint in a different language or a dual language keyboard before this afternoon, and that was a very cool thing to have been able to see and use. After getting the slides looking uniform and to Saeed's liking time was up but he asked that I meet with him again before his presentation so that we could discuss the project further, and we decided to meet on Wednesday afternoon so that we could get everything polished enough for him to feel ready to present this Thursday.
