Feedback provided to tutee: I'm glad that she understood the movie considering how many different accents were in it.
This time, Dasom went with some of us to see the movie Wonder Woman. She said that she really wanted to see it, so I invited her to see it with us. I wasn't planning on considering this to be a tutoring session, but any chance to practice helps her. This was another great listening practice, which I didn't realize until the movie was actually playing, because the movie had a lot of different accents that she had to listen to in order to understand. She heard people speaking English with British-English accents, German-English, and typical American-English accents. She said it was tough to understand the German accents, but she still got the gist of what they would say. She also asked me where the actors were from because some of the ones doing the German accent are actually American. She was very surprised by that. I think this was also another great opportunity to introduce her to more American culture, and she originally didn't care to learn much more about American culture. She seems to be more and more interested in it as I introduce her to more aspects of it though. I think this was a great listening and learning opportunity for her, and I think she really enjoyed the movie too.
