Alexa TS #7

Today (6/14/17, 12:00-1:00) I met with Ana for tutoring. We continued working on speaking for the TOEFL. The topics we went over were: 1. What is your favorite book or movie, 2. What is your favorite style of clothing, 3. Where is your favorite place to study, and 4. When have you been happily surprised by something. When we were going over the question about her favorite style of clothing, it was interesting because she wasn't sure what word to use for one of her sentences. The word she wanted to use was 'layer,' as in, to layer clothing. I wonder if other languages have that word or not. Something else that was a little frustrating for me was that for the first topic, Ana responded by saying that Harry Potter was her favorite book and movie. It is frustrating because I don't really know how strict the people are when they grade the TOEFL. Does it matter if she picked something that was both a book and movie, or do you have to pick either a book or movie (one or the other)? I don't really know the answer, but I wish i did. It seems like each time we practice, there's a different thing that needs to be improved on, but that's because the questions are all so different, and there's no way to tell what the actual question on the TOEFL will be. However, she is improving greatly in her grammar and self-correction.
