Location: Starbucks/Walmart
Topic: Destinations
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: Disney World/ Orlando
Today, Nanami and I went to Starbucks for a drink/food and to just talk. We mainly talked about the students at CIES ending their session soon. Nanami is actually going to be going to Orlando tomorrow. At first, I thought she was going to Disney World. We talked about Disney and what she was most excited for. Disney is obviously really well known not just in America but around the world. However, after talking some more I found out that she isn't really going to Disney World. She's just going to Orlando and will be that area and will probably eat good food and go shopping. I am excited for her to get to experience things in Orlando and told her if she wants any suggestions, she can just ask me. It was also interesting seeing the difference in her etiquette today in comparison to the last time we met up. Last time, we got dinner together, and as we were leaving the restaurant, I kind of got the vibe that they were confused as to why we were leaving so quickly. However, today, once she was done eating her food and drinking her drink, she seemed very ready to leave. In America, it is normal to eat, pay your check, and then leave afterwards. The only time I have stayed longer after paying was if I was with a big group and we were all having a good time. It makes me wonder if she is trying to get used to American customs. After that, we just went to Walmart to pick up a few things.
