Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: I learned a bit more about the TOEFL and Jiwon got some feedback on her writing.

Today's tutoring session Jiwon and I met at the CIES student lounge, we had decided on focusing on writing because it is one of the subjects in English that Jiwon dislikes the most. She showed me her most recent practice essay for the TOEFL exam and we went over the positives and negatives together making changes and working through better word and sentence choice options to make it a stronger and more cohesive essay. Her writing was very good for someone who doesn't like the subject and while there were a few grammatical mistakes the essay was very strong and it flowed very well. She presented her ideas clearly and there was good elaboration on each point that she made and I believe her TOEFL writing score would be about a 4 even though she is in group 3. We chatted about the changes we made and about other prompts that may be asked and I told her to keep practicing on these types of prompts and also that I would be here to help her with editing and feedback if she needed. She thanked me for the feedback and we decided we would meet Friday afternoon for our 6th meeting.
