Topic/Skill: Grammar - Future Continuous Tense & Adverbs
Teacher Presentation: She began the class with an activity. This in an inductive teaching approach. She handed out the activity worksheet which was a party itinerary that needed to be filled-out using the future continuous tense. She briefly explained the assignment and let the students work in pairs. After the activity and review, the instructor briefly introduced the topic of adverbs to the students.
Classroom Management: The tables were facing each other like one giant table and the instructor sat among the students. She facilitated the activity by keeping the students on track with the assignment as well as made observations of the students as they worked.
Materials: Activity Worksheet, Whiteboard, Whiteboard markers
Student Participation: All the students participated in the activity actively. When reviewing the activity after completion the students presented their itineraries as well as listened to the other students when they were presenting.
Feedback Provided: During the activity review, she not only went over the work that the students had completed but she also asked questions in real-time discussion to reinforce future continuous tense. During the review she used the whiteboard to write down examples and to discuss tense options and the circumstances in when to use which tense.
Lesson(s) on Teaching You Learned: I noticed that the instructor knew every students' name. I feel like this is an important part of teaching because if the students know that their instructor pays attention to them, they might feel more intrinsically motivated to participate in the class.
