Location: Paisley Cafe & Nail Salon

Jane and I decided to get lunch and get our nails done together. It was Jane's first time going to a nail salon so I was very excited to have the opportunity to do that with her! She got her nails done with a special polish that changes according to temperature. They look so pretty! But most of our time together was spent getting to know one another. We each talked about where we are from. Jane was actually born in the United States but raised in South Korea. If I remember correctly, she told me she was from Gyeonggi-do. I was unfamiliar with this area so I did a little Googling. Wikipedia told me Gyeonggi-do is the most populous province in South Korea. And after seeing a map of the country I could see that this province was surrounding Seoul. But Jane's family now has a new home in Gangnam. Jane said she is looking forward to living in Gangnam because there are many things to do there because it is in the city of Seoul.

I showed Jane a map of Florida's counties to show her how far away from Leon County I am from. I am from Broward Country and we have the beautiful Fort Lauderdale Beach. It would be nice to take Jane to see where I grew up but it is so far away. We talked about how public transportation is really lacking in Florida. I only know of one passenger train in South Florida and it only runs from Miami to Orlando. There are no tracks running East to West. In contrast with South Korea and a city like Seoul, that has multiple passenger trains, a subway system, and efficient bus lines, South Florida is practically immobile.

Jane and I also bonded over music. I found out that she loves iKON. Her favorite member is B.I, whom I also really like! I think Jane would be surprised to find out how popular KPOP is internationally. I know that karaoke is a very popular activity in South Korea so maybe we could do that for another conversation partner meeting...
