Elaina CO #2

Date/Time: May 10, 10-10:50
Topic/Skill: Composition
Teacher Presentation: He went over the agenda, gave them time to work on their outlines, reviewed them, and then gave them time to work on their first drafts
Classroom Management: Students sat in a circle and were allowed to work together on their ideas, and ask questions freely
Materials: Worksheets that helped the students create an outline
Student Participation: Students had to show Professor Flemming their outlines before they could move on to their first drafts, all students competed in the time given.
Feedback Provided: When he found mistakes in their work, he wouldn't tell them what was wrong he would just say that it was wrong and then ask why.
Lesson(s) on teaching you learned: I enjoying sitting in on this class after I read the chapter on writing. I like that he let them try to find their errors first before pointing them out and then asking what they should change and why. He also asked them to write about topics they would like to teach the class about their home countries, which is what the book said that we should do. His plan was to grade the first drafts after they are turned in on Monday, then return them Wednesday, and have them turn in a second draft, then the final. The first draft would be graded for content and the second for grammar.

I was able to walk around and read the student's work and answer any questions they may have. I liked the way Prof. Flemming taught, I thought that the students were able to understand a lot of their errors and learn from them.
