Date/Time: May, 7, 2017; 2:00-3:00pm
Location: Starbucks on Tennessee St.
Topic/Skill: culture, interests, education, heritage
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: American culture compared to West African culture; discussed places to get a job here in Tallahassee
My conversation partner is Soumaya Ouedraogo, from Burkina Faso in West Africa. We had a wonderful time visiting together! I picked her up from her apartment and we got a few drinks at Starbucks. She's only been in the U.S. for one week, but her English is still very good! She wants to study Architecture here in Tallahassee, once her English is better and she passes all her classes at CIES.
Soumaya's mother and four siblings (two brothers and two sisters) are still in Burkina Faso. I had no idea where this country was, so we spent some time looking up a map on Google and she also pointed out the other places she's been such as Ghana, which she said has incredible beaches.
She commented on my nail color while we were chatting and expressed interest in getting hers painted, so we are planning to go to the nail salon together this Saturday!
